STONE TYPES
Porcelain 0r Quartz?
Table Mason offers both Quartz and Porcelain tops in our cladding program. What's the difference? Lets break it down!
Porcelain
- Can be used indoors or outdoors
- Can withstand extreme temperatures. Hot pots and pans can be placed directly on porcelain without concern of damage.
- Non porous / extremely stain resistant. Turmeric, red wine, even permanent market won't set into a porcelain top. Stains can easily be removed from porcelain with simple cleaning solutions.
Quartz
- Quartz is designed for indoor use only as UV rays can cause discolouration over time.
- Excellent longevity with daily wear. Quartz is very resistant to chips or scratches, and offers options to repair damages should they occur.
- Quartz can handle moderate heat. Tea cups, and warm dishes are fine, but unlike porcelain, extreme temperatures can cause discolouration on quartz surfaces.
- Moderate stain resistance. Most liquid spills on quartz can be cleaned with ease. That said, quartz can soak up pigment from common things like red wine, blueberries, turmeric, etc.
